Women Writers Network on Twitter

We consider our Twitter account to be a forum for women writers to meet each other, hold discussions about the issues we face as writers and to share news, publications, or opportunities. Our monthly tweetchat is our unique contribution to Twitter for writers and it was described as ‘hearteningly radical’ by the Guardian. Twitter is not always a friendly place for women but we’d like to think we are creating a safe space where people can feel welcome and listened to.

 Our Twitter Feed

We offer a supportive and well-informed community on Twitter. Our account is dedicated to encouraging and promoting women writers’ work. In our Twitter feed you’ll find:

  • News of recently published books by women writers; of helpful articles, blog posts and podcasts; of literary events, of masterclasses and writing courses; of agents and publishers’ open submissions; of prizes and competitions, etc.

  • Conversations to which you’re welcome to contribute. Some examples of topics: book recommendations, how to stay focused on your writing project, where you draw inspiration from; how you hone your craft.

  • An outlet for your news: opportunities to share and promote your current project or events.

 Our Twitter Chats

We run Twitter chats, usually on the third Thursday of the month. Our chats focus on ideas, issues and genres of relevance to the work and lives of women writers.

Twitter chats offer participants the opportunity to contribute and learn from each other and to network with fellow writers. Here’s a sample of some of our conversations to date:

  • Women Writers and the Environment

  • Women Writing the City

  • National Novel Writing Month

  • Women Writing During Covid

  • Women Writing about Themselves

  • Writing Support, Online and Off

  • Women Writing the Body

  • Women Writing Humour

If you’ve never taken part in a Twitter chat, head over to this page to learn how easy it is to get involved. Also, be sure to follow us on Twitter—we’d love to hear from you!
